One of the most significant exhortations given to the ministry is Paul's instruction to Timothy, "Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth" (2 Timothy 2:15).

In this passage Paul instructs Timothy to study the Scriptures in such a way as to be able to correctly distinguish (rightly divide) those texts that deal with eternity from those texts that deal with the pilgrimage of the Lord's people here in time. Employing this method is the key that unlocks the door to Biblical understanding and dispels the confusion perpetuated by confounding eternal and temporal subjects in the Bible. This apostolic  method of Bible interpretation will greatly aid the Bible reader in understanding what he/she reads. (Acts 8:30-31)
